Oh.My.Word. Y’all. Summer time is such an amazing time of year, am I right???
The warm sunshine, the beach, the vacations, the long days and later bedtimes, the pools and sprinklers, the BBQ’s and get together’s.
*sigh* I just LOVE summer!
With Summer comes the sun. The sun is both so beneficial but it can also be damaging to the skin.
There are so many benefits to the sun, and you can probably find just as many negative effects out here on the www!
So if we know that the sun is good in small doses but we are going to be out in the sun all day, say…at the beach or an amusement park. How do you protect yourself from the sun?
Here are a few tips:
1. Cover up with clothing. Hats, rash guards, and lightweight long clothing are all great options.
2. Stay in the shade. Use umbrellas, etc.
3. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.
4. Use a SAFE sunscreen like Beautycounter’s Protect All Over Sunscreen SPF 30 (it’s what my family uses!) Many sunscreens use chemical sun blockers like oxybenzone, which soaks through skin, triggers allergic skin reactions, and may be a hormone disruptor. Protect All Over uses non-nano zinc oxide, which is a safer, effective, natural mineral sunblocker.
Most of all just be mindful of the sun and plan accordingly! The sun isn’t something to be feared but it is good to have a healthy respect for it so you don’t get a burn!
